"We urgently need to do more.鈥

The City of Calgary is expecting repairs of a major water line break to continue well into the weekend, and is stressing the importance of continuing to conserve water until the crisis is resolved.

According to the City, the damage to this critical water transmission line has severely impacted the supply in Calgary’s reservoirs and the ability to move water across the city.

“If you are staying in Calgary over the weekend, we need your help to save water for the next few days. If you are travelling out of the city, consider travel and traffic impacts along 16 Avenue in your travel plans,” said Calgary Emergency Management Agency Chief Susan Henry.

“It is wonderful to see Calgarians coming together," Henry added. "A special thank you to those who have pitched in to support their neighbours. Although we have seen a decrease in water use, we can do more. And we urgently need to do more.”

At a joint press conference with Calgary Mayor Jyoti Gondek earlier on Friday, 91性息港 Mayor Peter Brown urged Airdronians, who also use water supplied by Calgary, to do the same.

"This is such a critical time. Every drop counts,” said Brown.

Water restrictions will likely remain in place in 91性息港 for the entirety of the weekend.

It is not known how long it will take to make the crucial repair.
